Dutchbudz Meets nino.brown
Welcome to "Dutchbudz Meets". Our new interview series where we, Dutchbudz, “meet” and celebrate music artists and industry talent from the Netherlands.
We want to learn about what homegrown talent does but also the person behind the talent.
Dutchbudz Meets: Nino Pattiasina also known as "nino.brown"
Hi, my name is Nino Pattiasina also known as nino.brown. I’m a producer, singer-songwriter and rapper born and raised in Amsterdam.
The first thing you do when you wake up?
To be honest I don’t have any consistent morning routine. I start my day with either playing piano, doing some exercises/stretching, meditating or just having breakfast.
How did you get your start?
I’ve been doing music for quite a while. I started playing drums when I was nine, had some guitar lessons after that and was introduced to an iPhone app called Maschine in 2007. My cousin who plays keys in a band showed me this beatmaking app and from that moment on I knew I wanted to make beats too.
Biggest working achievement?
Being able to play in Paradiso and providing music for Amnesty International Documentary’s.
Favourite gig you’ve played?
A gig on Veronica Schip on the north side of Amsterdam. The aesthetic was so distinctively different than anywhere else I had ever played before. It was a short performance but one that made me realize how much connection there can be between a performer and an audience.
Who do you most want to work with?
I would love to get to work with Prince, Jill Scott, Black Thought, D’angelo, Robert Glasper, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West or Anderson. Paak. (Just to name a few)
I’m trying to learn...
Not to identify too much with my music. I tend to feel like my music and my identity are the same thing. This makes it hard when your music doesn’t resonate with someone to not feel like I as a person am being rejected.
Best crowd at an event you’ve attended?
Woo Hah Festival 2015/2016/2017 I don’t remember the year. But specifically Travis Scotts first appearance on the Festival. I haven’t experienced a performance as electrifying as that moment. The crowd was a hunderd percent involved and captivated. One of the most magical moments in my life.W
What does your ‘office’ setup look like?
My office is a studio and it looks like this.
If I had a theme song, it would be...
Although I feel like the lyrical content is a little too political to be my theme song I’d say Freeze Tag by Terrace Martin, Robert Glasper, 9th Wonder, Phoenix and Kamasi Washington.
I end my day with...
Reflecting on my day and writing down all positive things that happened or I experienced that day. Whenever I feel the need, I write about other things that occupy my mind as well. Last thing I do is read for a bit.
Where can we find you?
